Haryana handicrafts and handlooms has already marked its existence in the market. The state is famous for many unique Haryana crafts, which are exported all over the world and most famous is Surajkund crafts fair held in feb every year.

Pottery

Pottery is essentially a village craft, and Haryana is essentially a village state.

Embrodiery & Weaving

Embrodiery & Weaving of Haryana is another craft of the state. Woven work of Haryana is popular all over the country. Haryana produces beautiful shawls, dhurries, robes etc.

Phulkari

In Phulkari art motifs of birds, flowers and human figures are stitched on a colorful cloth using darning needles. The design is done from the reverse side on the cloth in a vertical and horizontal pattern.

Chope 

Chope is a kind of shawl, which is simple in its look as compared to phulkari and bagh.

Durries

Durries are rugs having spectacular geometric designs. In Haryana, durries are made on blue colored cloth with white triangle designs. Panipat is the hub of making durries in Haryana.

Sculpture

Rock and stone were the most common subjects for the development of art, right from the Maurya time to Harshavardhana to the Mughals and the British.

Theatre

The ‘Swang’ is the rural folk drama, which expresses the interplay of love, depicting mythological and modern tales of valour, sacrifice, humour and whatever else comes to mind.
