In India 14th January is celebrated as Uttrayan – Makar Sakranti. The festival according to Hindu mythology is celebrated to laud the change in climate. Kite Festival at Night: The Tukkal makes starry Night more Scintillating
Center attraction of Kite festival is kites. They are of different types made from various materials. The kites used by professional kite flyers are made from wooden dowels, split bamboo, fiber glass, graphite, plastic film etc. on the other side casual kite flyers use simple kites made from paper and small thin bamboo sticks.
It is these colorful kites that rule the sky in the morning but after evening ‘Tukkals’ rule the sky. People fly white kites at night and with the thread of that kite tukkals are attached. It is a small lantern enclosed in a smartly cut piece of paper. People attached several tukkals on a single kite providing spectators an unbelievable site.
